ANCHOR IMAGE

A late 19th. Century/Victorian Policeman's Wooden Truncheon, painted attractively with "VR" insignia and crown. The wood is in excellent condition, and the paintwork is also good, with only some wear to it. Impressed into the end of the handle is the maker's name - "McNAUGHTON GLASGOW". The original leather wrist strap is still attached around the beautifully turned handle. Probably made as a ceremonial or presentation piece, this piece of Police equipment was used in the days when a policeman's truncheon was enough deterent to bring most criminal situations under control. It measures 18ins. long.
