The Thames Traditional Boat Rally

If you're looking for a GREAT day or two out, enjoying, what must be, one of the most relaxing, scenic weekends in England, then why not try the delights of the Thames Traditional Boat Rally, at beautiful Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire?

The riverbanks of the Thames are turned back in time, as graceful, traditionally built boats sail up and down the river over the two day event, with full running commentary on each of the boats participating, and period costumes are worn by many attending to add to the effect. No fibre-glass boats are allowed within this stretch of the river, and all you will see are old steam launches, river steamers, sailing craft, vintage speedboats, skiffs, rowing boats, unpowered and electric canoes, right through to vintage sea-going cruisers and some of the famous Dunkirk Little Ships.

On shore, there are demonstrations and exhibitions from boat clubs, river societies, boat builders, etc., as well as a comprehensive Boat Jumble, where you can buy or browse through a wide range of boating essentials and accessories, as well as Nautical Antiques.....WE'LL BE THERE, WITH A WIDE RANGE OF NAUTICAL ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES FOR SALE!

A large gathering of Vintage Cars and Bicycles also gather in the Fawley Meadows, beside entertainment for all the family, complete with a Jazz Band.

As the night draws in, on Saturday, many of the boats take part in an Illuminated Parade, when imaginative boat owners transform their boats into magical images.

Saturday night, the sound is increased in the Beer Tent, when a live band plays '60's music throughout the evening, and the Party Atmosphere really kicks in!
