An interesting and well made piece, which although not of any age, is a very useful and decorative item. It's been designed as a Ship's Binnacle, with good detail, and comes with a working compass inside the removeable hood. It also features a chart tube on the back, which has a removeable cap. The hood also has a removeable cap on the top, so that the compass can be viewed without taking off the whole hood. The interior has been cleverly fitted with sections for tumblers and a bottle in the base, and cut-out sections above to suspend stemmed glasses. It comes complete with two crystal glasses and two stemmed glasses, all in perfect condition. The door to this compartment has been fitted with a full-length "piano" hinge, and the binnacle stands on four bun feet. It stands 23ins. high, with a 9.5in. square base.
